Prince William and Catherine in Montreal 2011

will kate canada dayWhat about Prince William and Catherine? Will they come to Montreal on July 1st 2011?

They will represent the Queen in Ottawa on July 1st. But on July 2nd they will arrive in Montreal.

Just one hour from Montreal, Ottawa represents another center of attraction for Canada Day.

On their first official trip as a married couple, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Catherine, have chosen to attend the Canada Day celebrations, in Canada’s Capital Region.

If you want to participate at activities and also to get a glimpse of the royal newlyweds up-close and personal on Canada Day, be ready to go to Ottawa.

For Montreal visit of Will and Kate see the second part of this post.

Royal-themed activities throughout the Canada Day 2011

  • Watch for the arrival of the Duke and Duchess as they make their way westward along Wellington Street to Parliament Hill for the noontime festivities. Get there early to stake out a spot with a good view.
  • They will attend a citizenship ceremony at the Museum of Civilization and then it's off to Parliament Hill for Canada Day celebrations, where William will briefly address the crowd.
  • Visit the National War Memorial. Prince William’s great-grandparents (King George VI and Queen Elizabeth) unveiled the monument in 1939, during the first-ever visit of a reigning monarch to Canada.
  • Tour the residence of the governor general, the Queen’s representative in Canada. Rideau Hall has welcomed foreign dignitaries, royalty and heads of state since the first days of Canada’s nationhood, in 1867.
  • Engage in a little frivolity in the ByWard Market, and shop for a special hat, in the style of the “fascinators” worn at the royal wedding.
  • Attend high tea at the Fairmont Château Laurier, in the best British style
